He was the son of George Noble Mann and Elizabeth Mann of 6, Loughborough Road, Mountsorrel, Leics. His enlistment documents record that he gave his father, George Noble Mann of 8, Loughborough Road, Mountsorrel, Leicestershire, England as his next of kin. He gave his trade or calling as Butcher, and stated that he was unmarried. He served a seven year apprenticeship as a Butcher. He had served for three years in the Territorials until he left England. Information taken from his medical examination shows that he was 5 foot 10 inches in height, weighed 154 pounds and had a chest measurement of 34 to 37 inches. His complexion was described as fair with grey eyes and fair hair. He gave his religion as Church of England. His record of service gives the following information. Embarked from Melbourne, New South Wales, Australia aboard H.M.A.T. “Kabinga” 8th May 1915. Embarked aboard HMT “Caledonia” to join the E.E.F. in Gallipoli 5th August 1915. Disembarked Alexandria, Egypt 27th December 1915. Promoted Lance Corporal, Heliopolis, Egypt 22nd February 1916. Proceeded to Serapeum, Egypt 27th February 1916. Admitted to 17th General Hospital, Alexandria, Egypt with tonsillitis 24th June 1916. Discharged to duty 3rd July 1916. Taken on the strength of 3rd Light Horse at Moascar, Egypt 4th July 1916. Transferred to 9th Light Horse at Serapeum, Egypt 5th July 1916. Thrown from his horse on duty and admitted to 1st/1st South Midland Brigade Field Ambulance with fractured tibia and fibula 11th April 1917. Admitted to No.2 Australian Stationary Hospital 12th April 1917. Admitted to 53rd Welsh Casualty Clearing Station, and transferred to Hospital Train at Deir el Belal, Egypt 12th April 1917. Admitted to 24th Australian General Hospital, with a fractured left leg (Potts fracture) 13th April 1917. Transferred to 14th Australian General Hospital Abassia, Cairo, Egypt 15th April 1917. Discharged B2 to Details Camp, Moascar, Egypt 20th August 1917. Attended Medical Board at Moascar, Egypt 1st October 1917. Admitted 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital, Moascar, Egypt with B.T.malaria 15th December 1917. Discharged from Hospital 24th December 1917. Medical Board held at Moascar, Egypt, Potts fracture, classified B2, 31st December 1917. Proceeded to join 3rd Light Horse Regiment 11th May 1918. Transferred to 9th Light Horse Regiment 21st June 1918. Proceeded to Ludd, Egypt 24th June 1918. Promoted Temporary Corporal vice R. Line promoted 9th August 1918. Wounded in action 27th September 1918. Admitted to Australian Divisonal Receiving Station with gun shot wound to the abdomen 28th September 1918. Died from his wounds 29th September 1918. He was buried by Chaplain H. K. Gordon on the 29th September 1918 in the Church of England Cemetery, Nazareth, Palestine, later reburied on the 23rd June 1919 in Haifa Military Cemetery, Palestine.
