He was the son of Frederick Pritchett, born 1863 in Granby, Nottinghamshire and his wife Annie Pritchett (nee Beet, married on the 4th January 1886 in All Saint’s Church, Granby, Nottinghamshire), born 1862 in Granby. Reginald Cecil was born 11th September 1887 in Granby, Nottinghamshire. In April 1891 Reginald was absent from the family home at South End, Granby, residing there was his father a Great Northern Railway Company platelayer, his mother and twin brother Bertram, born 11th September 1887 and sister, Agnes, born 1890 the latter two siblings were both born in Granby, Reginald at this time was residing in Plungar, Leicestershire, in the family home of his paternal Grandfather, Thomas Pritchett, an agricultural labourer, born 1829 in Cropwell, Nottinghamshire and his wife Ann Pritchett (nee Brown, married on the 26th March 1854 in All Saint’s Church, Granby, Nottinghamshire), born 1834 in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and Reginald’s Uncles, Harry, an agricultural labourer, born 1858 and John S., born 1878, the latter two Uncles were both born in Leicestershire. In March 1901 Reginald was employed as a farm cow boy and was residing as a servant at Woolsthorpe Road, Muston, Leicestershire. In April 1911 Reginald was employed as a farm labourer and was residing as a servant at Barnstone, Nottinghamshire. Reginald also had the following younger siblings, Clara, born 1892, Edward, born 1894 and Albert, born 1895, the latter three siblings were all born in Granby. He was the nephew of Isabella Gale (nee Pritchett), born 20th March 1875 in Barnstone.
Reginald’s Army enlistment documents do not survive, all that is known of his military service is that he enlisted into the Nottinghamshire and Derby Regiment (Sherwood Foresters), being allotted the service number 3916, and he was posted as a Private to the 1/5th Battalion Nottinghamshire and Derby Regiment serving with this unit throughout his short career, he was later allotted the service number 201253. He was awarded the British War and Victory medals. In the Ledger of soldiers effects he nominated his aunt, Isabella Gale as his sole legatee.
The War Diary records: 19 Aug-18 - ESSARS SECTOR. On 19th we commenced to push forward and advanced line to KING STREET and got round the village of LE TOURET. 8 of the enemy together with 2 Machine Guns were captured. Many of the enemy were killed.
20 Aug-18 – ESSARS SECTOR. Relieved by the 6th SOUTH STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT and moved into Divisional Reserve.
