He was the son of William Beaver a farm waggoner, born 1859 in Oakham, Rutland and his wife Sarah Jane Beaver (nee Sharpe, married Q1 1880 in the Oakham, Rutland district), born 1856 in Greetham, Rutland. Albert was born on th 29th April 1891 in Oakham, Rutland, his siblings were William, born 1883, Ada, born 1886, Harry, born 1890, Ernest, born 1893, Laura, born 1895 and Edith M., born 1897, all his siblings were born in Oakham, Rutland, in March 1901 the family home was at Deans Court, Deans Street, Oakham, Rutland. In April 1911 Albert was serving as a Stoker in the Royal Navy and was stationed at the Royal Naval Barracks, Edinburgh Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire. He was just a month over 17 years of age when he joined the 5th Battalion of the Leicestershire Regiment (Territorial Force). Albert enlisted into the Royal Navy to serve a 5 + 7 year engagement on the 19th January 1911 and was allocated the service number K/10174 in Portsmouth, Hants. His medical examination recorded that he was 5 foot 5¾ inches in height, had a chest measurement of 37½ inches, had light brown hair and grey eyes, his complexion was described as fresh, it was noted that he had scars on both forearms. He gave his trade or calling as grocer’s assistant. His record of service began when he joined HMS Victory II as a Stoker 2nd Class on the 19/1/11 – 11/2/11. HMS Renown, 12/2/11 – 1/4/11. HMS Victory II, 2/4/11 – 23/5/11. HMS Essex, 24/5/11 – 7/10/11. HMS Victory II, 8/10/11 – 10/11/11. HMS Neptune, 11/11/11. Promoted to Stoker 1st Class aboard HMS Neptune, 7/3/12 – 27/1/13. HMS Victory II, 28/1/13 – 5/2/13. HMS Terrible, 6/2/13 – 25/3/13. HMS Victory, 26/3/13 – 30/8/13. HMS Dolphin, 31/8/13 – 27/7/15. HMS Victory II, 28/7/15 – 3/9/15. HMS Alert, 4/9/15 – 31/10/15. Albert is recorded as dying in hospital at Busia, Mesopotamia, from enteric fever on the 31st October 1915, and was buried in Masus Old Cemetery, Makina, Mesopotamia (Iraq). This last voyage had been with the Mediterranean Fleet sailing for for Salonika. He held the 1st Good Conduct Badge granted him on the 18th January 1914, and always got marks for superior ability in his duties.
