He was the son of Sidney Cobb a gamekeeper and domestic servant, born 1859 in Bere Regis, Dorset and his wife Anne, born 1854 in Newborough, Northants. Sidney was born in 1886 in Weston, Herts., he had one sibling a brother Hensley, born 1884 in Chobham, Surrey, in April 1891 the family home was at The Kennels, Bucks Horn Oak Lane, Binstead, Hants. In March 1901 Sidney was employed as a gamekeeper’s assistant and was residing in the family home at Coombe Brake, Bury Meadow, Woodbury, Devonshire, together with his parents and brother Hensley. In April 1911 Sidney was employed as a gamekeeper and was residing in the family home at Ty Coch, Llanmorlais, Glamorganshire, Wales, together with his parents.
