He was the son of the late Major Blount (Royal Artillery), (killed in the South African War). Greville Hubert Robins was born in 1883 in Aldershot, Hants. In April 1891 Greville was scholar and was residing at Green Hall, Market Street Lane, Belper, Derbys. In March 1901 Greville was serving as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery and was stationed at the Royal Field Artillery Barracks, North Camp, Farnborough, Hants. In April 1911 Greville, a widower, was serving as a Lieutenant with G Battery, Royal Field Artillery and was stationed at Trimulgherry, Secunderabad, Deccan, India. In the quarter April, May and June of 1907 Greville was married in the Croydon Registration District.
