He was the son of Thomas Burdett an assurance agency superintendent, born 1871 in Barkby, Leics., and his wife Lizzie, born 1868 in Lubenham, Leics. Arthur Cyril was born in 1897 in Rearsby, Leics., his siblings were, George William, born 1896 in Rearsby, Leics., and Hilda Mabel, born 1901 in Diss, Norfolk, in March 1901 the family home was at Victoria Road, Diss, Norfolk. In April 1911 Arthur was a shoe trade clicker and was residing in the family home at 48, Loughborough Road, Leicester, together with his parents and siblings, George, Hilda, John Thomas, born 1902 in Diss, Norfolk, Amy Lizzie, born 1903 in Thrapston, Northants., Lucy Pattie, born 1905, Stanley Ashton Burdett, born 1907 and Westley, born 1909, the latter three siblings were all born in Leicester, also residing with the family was his paternal aunt, Florence Burdett, born 1877 in Syston, Leics. The Temperance Hall Mission Memorial plaque is now located in the Bishop Street Methodist Church, Leicester. He died whilst a Prisoner of War.
