He was the son of Frederick Thomas a Shoe Worker, born 1875 in Northampton and his wife Louisa, born 1877 in Kettering, Northants. Sidney Frederick was born in 1897 in Kettering, Northants., his siblings were Evelyn Ada, born 1896 and Cyril Arthur, born 1900, both siblings were born in Kettering, Northants., in March 1901 the family home was at Leicester Road, Shepshed, Leics., in the Ecclesiastical Parish of St. Botolph. In April 1911 Sidney was a Schoolboy and was residing in the family home at 8, Hastings Road, Loughborough, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Evelyn, Cyril, Rose, born 1902 in Shepshed, Leics., Frederick Thomas, born 1905 and Bernard, born 1911, the latter two siblings were both born in Loughborough, Leics.
