He was the son of John Ernest Theophilus Chapman, a boot maker and dealer, born 1854 in Loughborough, Leicestershire, and his wife Elizabeth Anne Chapman (nee Cumberland, married in the 4th quarter of 1876 in the Loughborough, Leicestershire district), born 1856 in Loughborough, Hubert Frank, a schoolboy was born in the 1st quarter of 1886 in Loughborough, his siblings were, Edith, a schoolgirl, born 1879, Dorothy, a schoolgirl, born 1882, Helen, born 1887, John, born in the 1st quarter of 1889 and Gladys, born 1890, all his siblings were born in Loughborough, in April 1891 the family home was at 34, Park Lane, Loughborough. In March 1901 Hubert was absent from the family home at Ashby Road, Loughborough, residing there was his father, a boot manufacturer’s travelling agent, his mother and siblings, Dorothy, Helen, John, Gladys and Harold Ernest, born 1896 in Loughborough, Hubert was a schoolboy and was residing as a pupil at Wellingborough Grammar School, Northamptonshire. In April 1911 Hubert was absent from the family home at Westfields, Ashby Road, Loughborough, residing there was his father, a commercial traveller, his mother and siblings, Helen, John, an electrical engineering student, Gladys and Harold, a schoolboy. His younger brother John also died.
