He was the son of Frank Collumbell a baker, born 1865 in Derby and his wife Jessie, born 1864 in Runcorn, Ches. Frank Alfred was born in 1890 in Long Eaton, Derbys., he had one sibling, a brother Arthur H., born 1888 in Derby, in April 1891 the family home was at 22, New Tithe Street, Long Eaton, Derbys. In March 1901 Frank was residing in the family home at Prospect Street, Heanor, Derbys., together with his parents and siblings, Arthur, Mary, born 1887 in Derby, Dorothy B., born 1895 in Long Eaton, Derbys., Claude, born 1897, Walter, born 1898, William Edgar, born 1899 and Godfrey, born 1901, the latter four siblings were all born in Marlpool, Derbys. In April 1911 Frank was employed as a baker and was residing in the family home at 15, Cattle Market, Loughborough, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Mary, Arthur, Dorothy, Claude, Walter, Edgar, Godfrey and Jessie, born 1904 in Marlpool, Derbys. His younger brother William Edgar also died from wounds received in action.
