He was the son of Richard Green, a navvy excavator, born 1861 in Chalfont St. Giles, Bucks., and his wife Topsy Green, born 1864 in Chesham, Bucks. Albert Charles was born on the 29th May 1896 in Loughborough, Leics., his siblings were, Alice Minnie, born 1889 in Chesham, Bucks., Richard, born 1895 and Susan, born 1899, the latter two siblings were both born in Loughborough, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 2, Court C, Baxter Gate, Loughborough, Leics. In April 1911 Albert was employed as an assistant to a brush maker, and was residing in the family home at 1, Canal Bank Bridge Street, Loughborough, Leics., together with his father now an invalid, and general labourer, his mother a char woman, and siblings, Alice, a factory worker, Richard, an assistant to a brush maker, Susan, a schoolgirl, Gladys, a schoolgirl, born 1903 and Frederick, a schoolboy, born 1906, the latter two siblings were both born in Loughborough, Leics. The family later resided at 21, Edward Street, Loughborough, Leics. Albert enlisted on the 11th October 1915, and embarked to join the British Expeditionary Force in France on the 2nd January 1917, joining his unit, the Howe Battalion on the 24th January 1917 and serving with it until he was killed in action on the 17th February 1917.
