ContributeSource: Leicestershire War Memorials Project. Sgt Hebditch was on a training flight one late November evening in 1943 with Sgt Victor Wilson. This information is taken from the flight log at RAF Montrose (it survives in the museum), It is not known who was at the controls but it appears they were on a circuit in their Airspeed Oxford and descending for final approach when they flew into the top of a hill.
The aircraft clipped the hilltop and flipped over. Both pilots were found in the wreckage some hours later.
Victor is buried in a grave in his home town of Grantham.
