Jack had been employed as a miner at Coleorton Colliery after leaving school, but shortly before the outbreak of war had joined Wootton Brothers Iron Works. He died during a night attack on a village when a shell burst alongside him and killed him instantly. The War Diary for today records. BROSSE WOODS.
