He was the son of Arthur Brooks a coal miner, born 1862 in Coalville, Leics., and his wife Louisa, born 1862 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leics. Arthur Reginald was born in 1895 in Thornborough, Leics., he had two half blood siblings, William, born 1889 and John T., born 1891, the latter two half blood siblings were both born in Whitwick, Leics., Ernest, born 1896, Florence L., born 1898, Olive E. M., born 1899 the latter three siblings were all born in Thornborough, Leics., Evelyn M. G., born 1900 in Coalville, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Margaret Street, Coalville, Leics. In April 1911 Arthur was employed as a domestic servant, and was residing as a servant at Forest Street, Shepshed, Leics. His elder half blood sibling William fell in action.
