Eric James West was the son of Thomas Arthur and Ann Taylor West.
He was remembered by his family in the Market Harborough Advertiser on the 17th August 1945:

'In Memoriam'
'WEST- Unchanging memories of my darling Husband Eric (Fleet Air Arm) reported missing presumed killed August 19th 1941.
We planned a beautiful future
For it only to end in a dream:
Now all I have is a memory
And thoughts of what might have been.
He gave the greatest gift of all,
His unfinished life.
He rests with those that paid
The supreme sacrifice.
Only those who have loved and lost
Know the price of war's bitter cost.
- His loving wife Doris (of East Langton, now serving WRNS)'

'WEST- Proud and Loving Memories of our Son-in-Law, ERIC; also remembering his Wedding Day, 13th July 1941; being reported missing, presumed killed at sea August 19th 1941, whilst serving with the Fleet Air Arm.
We do not forget him, or do we intend.
We think of him daily and will to the end.
We mourn him in silence and sorrow unseen
And dwell on the memories that have been.

Mother and Father-in-law, also Doreen, Alan and Arthur (Royal Navy)'.
