He was the husband of Ada Christie (nee Hemmings). Alexander had been a tailor in the Salvation Army before he arrived at Glen Parva Barracks in South Wigston, Leicestershire. Here he married Ada who was from Glen Gate in South Wigston and they had a daughter Ivy. Other sources show his place of residence as Leicester, also an address of 409, Holburn Road. His unit is also shown as the 12th Battalion.
