He was the husband of Grace E. Goodman with whom he had two daughters, Florence six and her sister who was just a few months old when their father died. George was wounded in service and subsequently died from pneumonia, his funeral was conducted in the garrison church of St. Thomas in South Wigston, prior to burial in Wigston Cemetery, Leicestershire.
