William Orton was born 1878 in Whitwick in Leicestershire.
He lived with relatives Valentine and Hannah Hull, recorded on Census of 1901, in Bardon Hill, Coalville, Leicestershire; he was a bricklayer at the time.
William was married to Sarah Ann Orton born1877 in Swannington. They had two daughters born in Whitwick, Leicestershire: Evelyn Martha Thirlby 1904 and Sarah Elizabeth 1910. They lived in Church Lane, Whitwick, Leicestershire.
William was a Bricklayer.
Military Service:
William Orton enlisted with the Army in Coalville Leicestershire.
He was killed in action on 15th September 1916, he was 38 years old.
He is buried and commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Somme (80), France. Reference Pier and Face 7D and 8D"
