He was the son of Joseph Bramall a farm labourer, born 1865 in Bradfield, Yorks., and his wife Harriet, born 1864 in Bradfield, Yorks. Colin was born in 1888 in Bradfield, Yorks., he had one sibling, a brother Reginald, born 1890 in Wortley, Yorks., in April 1891 the family home was at Moorside, Wortley, Hallamshire, Yorks. In March 1901 Colin was employed as a farm stockman and was residing in the family home at Wortley, Yorkshire, together with his father, now a stockman, his mother and siblings, Reginald, Arthur, born 1892, Bernard, born 1897 and Joseph Lawrence, born 1901, the latter three siblings were all born in Wortley, Yorks. In April 1911 Colin was employed as a cleaner and was residing in the family home at 57, Kings Meadows, Nottingham, together with his wife of one year Clara Elizabeth, born 1890 in Nottingham. In April 1911 his father, now a farm manager, his mother and siblings, Arthur, Lawrence and Cyril, born 1907 in Stapleford, Leics., had moved to Holly Gate Farm, Stapleford Park, Melton Mowbray, Leics. On Friday May 25th 1917 The Melton Mowbray Times & Vale of Belvoir Gazette published the following article under the heading. “WYMESWOLD” – LOCAL POLICEMAN KILLED.- As briefly announced in our last issue, news has been received that Private Colin Bramall, of the Artillery, was killed on May 10th. A bomb exploded near, killing him instantaneously. Deceased was a native of Stapleford, and was a member of the Leicestershire Constabulary stationed first at Loughborough and then at Wymeswold, from where he enlisted in June 1915. He leaves a widow and three children in Burder Street, Loughborough. His brother has been stationed at Melton Mowbray for some time past, and has now joined the Royal Artillery.
