He was the son of Henry Chapman a quarry labourer, born 1847 in Mountsorrel, Leics., and his wife Ellen Jane, born 1848 in Ratby, Leics. Frederick was born in 1878 in Stoney Stanton, Leics., his siblings were, Amos, born 1867 and Horace, born 1868, the latter two siblings were both born in Mountsorrel, Leics., William, born 1870 in Leicester, John H., born 1873 in Stonebroom, Derbys., and George, born 1880 in Stoney Stanton, Leics., in April 1881 the family home was at 9, Long Street, Stoney Stanton, Leics. In April 1891 Frederick was employed as a stone quarry worker and was residing in the family home at Long Street, Stoney Stanton, Leics., together with his father, now a carrier, his mother and siblings, John, George, Ellen Jane, born 1882, Fanny, born 1884, Ethel M., born 1891 and Julia, born 1886, the latter four siblings were all born in Stoney Stanton, Leics. In March 1901 Frederick was employed as a sett maker and was residing in the family home at Long Street, Stoney Stanton, Leics., together with his father, now a blacksmith’s striker, his mother and siblings, George, Ethel, Fanny, Julia and Ethel. In April 1911 Frederick was employed as a quarry worker and was residing in the family home at Long Street, Stoney Stanton, Leics., together with his wife of seven years, Martha Annie, born 1879 in Stoney Stanton, Leics., and their children, Marguerite, born 1904 and Gladys, born 1909, the latter two siblings were both born in Sapcote, Leics., and Ethel, born 1909 in Loughborough, Leics.
