He was the son of Harry Blake a Fitter Mechanic, born 1870 in Battersea, London and his wife Elizabeth, born 1874 in Leicester. Norman was born in 1897 in Knighton Fields, Leics., he had one sibling, a sister Mary Ann, born 1896 in Knighton Fields, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 100, Cavendish Road, Leicester, in the Ecclesiastical Parish of Aylestone Park, St. James. In April 1911 Norman was employed as a Milkman’s Assistant and was residing in the family home at 100, Cavendish Road, Leicester, together with his parents and siblings, Mary, Adelaide Agnes, born 1894, Phyliss, born 1903, Alec, born 1907, Sheila Christine and Nora Kathleen, the latter five siblings were all born in Leicester. Norman died of malaria.
