He was the son of Edwin Playster Steeds, a chartered accountant, born 1858 in Steeple Aston, Oxon., and his wife Marian Steeds (nee Graham, married 1888), born 1868 in Belgrave, Leicester. Paul Meredith was born in 1894 in Thurnby, Leics., one of twins, his siblings were, Geoffrey Graham, a student accountant, born 1890 and his twin, Roger, born 1894, both his siblings were born in Thurnby, Leics., in April 1911 the family home was at Barkby Firs, Syston, Leics. On Friday November 30th 1917 The Melton Mowbray Times & Vale of Belvoir Gazette published the following article under the heading. “BIRTHS, MARRIAGES AND DEATHS.” – DEATHS. – STEEDS. – On October 12th, killed in action, Paul Meredyth, aged 23, New Zealand E. F., 3rd son of Edwin Playster and Marian Steeds, of Barkby Firs, near Leicester. His parents latterly resided at 2, Marine Court, Bexhill on Sea, Sussex.
