He was the son of Thomas H. Bowler, born 1857 in Mountsorrel, Leics., and his wife Maria, born 1863 in Thurcaston, Leics. Arthur was born in 1892 in Thurcaston, Leics., his siblings were, Edith S., born 1887 in Mountsorrel, Leics., Fred, born 1888, Beatrice Ethel, born 1891, Richard Harold, born 1898 and Thomas James, born 1900, the latter four siblings were all born in Thurcaston, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Main Street, Thurcaston, Leics. In April 1911 Arthur was employed as a platelayer and was residing in the family home at Fowkes Street, Rothley, Leics., together with his remarried mother, Maria Towers and his siblings, Samuel, Fred, Ethel, Richard and Thomas, also residing with the family was his neice Margaret Alice Pett, born 1911. His mother later resided at Chapel Yard, Thurcaston, Leics. The War Diary for today records. OVILLERS. Battalion attacked. Captain MACLAREN killed. Stayed in ORVILLERS the night. Companies concentrated.
