He was the son of Mr and Mrs William Crofts. Prior to enlistment he was in gentleman’s service, proceeding to France in March 1915, he was killed in action at the Hohenzollern Redoubt. Other sources show his unit as the 1st Battalion Leicestershire Regiment.
