Source: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland.
He was the son of Alfred Harden of Tinwell, Rutland. Prior to enlistment he had been a fitter. After enlisting he embarked for France on the 24th June 1915. He was killed during the action at the Hohenzollern Redoubt. In a letter sent by a comrade to his father he stated, that his son had been shot in the neck, he bandaged the wound and dragged him to a place of safety thinking he would be picked up by stretcher bearers. He was however never seen again and it is presumed he was buried by shell fire. The Chaplain, in a letter to Mr Harden, informing him that his son had been reported missing, stated he took part in the attack on the 13th October, and had not since been heard of, and he feraed he must be numbered amongst the gallant men who fell in that part of the line which later had to be evacuated.
