He was the son of the lateThomas Giles, and his wife Susan. Edward was educated at the Board School, Walton le Wolds, Leicestershire and was a Gardener before enlistment on the 1st January 1916. He served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from the 2nd July 1916 until he was killed in action in the Ypres salient on the 26th February 1917. He was buried in the Railway Dug-outs Burial Ground, Transport Farm, Zillebeke, Belgium. Edward was unmarried.
