He was the son of Harry Ager, a car man, born 1865 in Bloomsbury, Middlesex and his wife Ann Ager, born 1868 in Bottisham, Cambridgeshire. Arthur was born in the 3rd quarter of 1898 in St. Pancras, Middlesex, his siblings were, Edith, born 1890, Elizabeth, born 1893 and Edward, born 1898, all his siblings were born in St. Pancras, in March 1901 the family home was at 42, Cirencester Street, Paddington, Middlesex. In April 1911 Arthur was a schoolboy and was residing in the family home at 19, Malvern Mews, Kilburn, Willesden, Middlesex, together with his father, a motor cab driver, his mother and siblings, John an electrician, Alice a domestic servant, Florrie, a domestic servant, Joseph James, a junior clerk, born 1896 in Paddington, Middlesex, May, a schoolgirl, born 1901, Rose, a schoolgirl, born 1902 and Kathleen, a schoolgirl, born 1904, the latter three siblings were all born in Willesden, Middlesex. In the 1st quarter of 1916, Arthur married Lucy Florence Tailby in the Blaby, Leicestershire district. In the 3rd quarter of 1916, they had a son, Arthur J. born in the Blaby, district.
The War Diary records: 8 Oct-18 - MONTCOUVEZ. 05.15. Battalion attacked BEAUVOIS LINE. Captured all objectives including 430 prisoners and 4 field guns. All Companies in front line. Battalion HQ. in BEAUVOIS front line.
