Baker a Postman, born 1873 in Monmouthshire and his wife Eliza P., a Laundress, born 1872 in Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire. William Vincent was born in 1897 in Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire, his siblings were Charles H., born 1894, Dorothy, born 1901, Elsie, born 1903 and James Ernest, born 1906, all his siblings were born in Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire. In March 1901 the family home was at Kennel Cottages, Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire. In April 1911 William was employed as a Garden Boy and was residing with his mother and siblings in the family home at Maplewell Road, Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire. The War Diary for today records. METZ-EN-COUTURE. Relieved 2nd/4th LEICESTERSHIRE REGT. in front line, on left sub sector of the Brigade front. Part of relief carried out in day light by communication trenches. A and B Companies in front line, C Company in support, D Company in reserve. Battalion HQ in hollow ground at Q.10D.48. 11.50pm. Relief complete. Trench on left pushed out towards TRESCAULT – RIBECOURT ROAD and a post begun at Q.5A.82.
