He was the son of William Bloxham a shoe finisher, born 1865 in Hinckley, Leics., and his wife Lucy Charlotte, born 1874 in Higham on the Hill, Leics. John Woodburn Bloxham was born in 1893 in Stoke Golding, Leics., his siblings were Charles William, born 1895, Wilmot, born 1898 and Phyllis Alice, born 1900, all his siblings were born in Stoke Golding, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Dadlington End, Stoke Golding, Leics., in the Ecclesiastical Parish of Stoke Golding, St. Margaret and Dadlington, St. James. In April 1911 John was employed as a shoe worker and was residing in the family home at Dadlington End, Stoke Golding, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Wilmot, Phyllis, Arthur, born 1902, Doris Mabel, born 1905, Gladys Ena, born 1908 and Beatrice Ann, born 1910, the latter four siblings were all born in Stoke Golding, Leics. His younger brother Charles William fell in action.
