He was the son of Thomas Bott an insurance agent, born 1857 in Shepshed, Leics., and his wife Mary J., born 1857 in Birmingham, Warwks. George Frederick was born in 1885 in Shepshed, Leics., his siblings were Edith M., born 1881 in Shepshed, Leics. and William A., born 1890 in Loughborough, Leics., in April 1891 the family home was at 13, Broad Street, Loughborough, Leics. In March 1901 George was employed as a boot clicker and was residing in the family home at Britannia Street, Shepshed, Leics., together with his father, now a wool and cotton stocking maker, his mother and siblings, Edith M., William A., and Herbert A., born 1893 in Loughborough, Leics., also residing with the family was his widowed maternal grandmother Sarah Stubley a dressmaker, born 1830 in Shepshed, Leics. In April 1911 George was employed as a shoe clicker and was residing in the family home at Leicester Road, Shepshed, Leics., together with his wife Annie a shoe machinist, born 1886 in Peggs Green, Leics., and his mother in law, Eliza Draper, born 1861 in Peggs Green, Leics.
