He was the son of Samuel Briers a stocking maker, born 1854 in Shepshed, Leics., and his wife Mary, born 1853 in Shepshed, Leics. Albert was born in 1887 in Shepshed, Leics., his siblings were John H., born 1874, Hannah, born 1876, Jane, born 1878 and Charles, born 1885, all his siblings were born in Shepshed, Leics., in April 1891 the family home was at Charnwood Road, Shepshed, Leics. In March 1901 Albert was employed as an errand boy and was residing in the family home at Kirkhill Street, Shepshed, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, John, Charles, Mary Jane, born 1893 and Bertie, born 1898, the latter two siblings were both born in Shepshed, Leics. In April 1911 Albert was employed as a shoe trade clicker and was residing in the family home at Kirkhill Street, Shepshed, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Mary and Bertie. In the October, November, December quarter of 1914, Albert married Elizabeth Ann Cotton in the Loughborough, Leicestershire registration district. In the July, August, September quarter of 1922, Albert’s widow Elizabeth married Thomas Hopkinson in the Loughborough, Leicestershire registration district, they resided at 100, Church Lane Whitwick, Leics. Albert enlisted on the 12th July 1917 and embarked to join the British Expeditionary Force on the 12th November 1917, joining his unit, the Anson Battalion on the 24th November 1917 and serving with that unit until he was posted wounded and missing, presumed killed in action on the 21st August 1918.
