He was the son of Henry Buckland a domestic butler, born 1853 in Market Lavington, Wilts., and his wife Elizabeth Ann a schoolmistress, born 1860 in Summertown, Oxon. William Henry was born in 1884 in Market Lavington, Wilts., his siblings were Ethel D. E., born 1887 in Oxford and Eva M., born 1890 in Radley, Berks., in April 1891 the family home was at 55, Kennington, Radley, Berks. In March 1901 William was employed as a dentist’s apprentice and was residing in the family home at 3, New Road, St. Peter Le Bailey, Oxford, together with his father, now a fruiterer, his mother and siblings, Ethel and Eva. In April 1911 William was employed as a dental mechanic and was residing as a boarder at 36, Nelson Street, Great Bowden, Leics. In the April, May, June quarter of 1912, William married Florence Annie Neal in the Market Harborough, Leicestershire registration district.
