He was the son of the late Jacob Coleman a gardener, born 1859 in Foxton, Leics., and his wife Mary Coleman (nee Smith, married in the 4th quarter of 1877 in the Market Harboprough, Leics. district), born 1852 in Broughton Astley, Leics. Clarence was born on the 9th March 1892 in Market Harborough, Leics., his siblings were, Edith, a corset trade machinist, born in the 1st quarter of 1880, Edward, a corset trade warehouseman, born in the 4th quarter of 1880, Lilla, a corset trade machinist, born in the 3rd quarter of 1881, Herbert, a cycle repairer, born in the 3rd quarter of 1883, Ettie, a corset trade machinist, born in the 4th quarter of 1885 and Elsie Elizabeth, a corset trade machinist, born in the 2nd quarter of 1887, all his siblings were born in Market Harborough, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Heygate Street, Great Bowden, Leics. In April 1911 Clarence was employed as a baker and was residing in the family home at 41, Highfield Street, Leicester, together with his widowed mother and siblings, Lilla, a corset trade machinist, Hetty, a corset trade trimmer, Elsie a corset trade trimmer, and his niece Gracie Coleman, born 1908 in Long Eaton, Derbys.
