Frederick was a schoolboy and was born in the 4th quarter of 1886 in Headington, Oxon, his siblings were, Julia, a general domestic servant, born 1872, John, a plasterer, born 1874, Jim, a groom, born 1877, Tom, a tailor, born 1877, Emma, a schoolgirl, born 1881 and Alfred, a schoolboy, born 1883, all his siblings were born in Headington, Oxon, in April 1891 the family home was at Hazel Terrace, Marston, Headington, Oxon. In March 1901 Frederick was employed as a bank office boy and was residing at 4, Main Street, Great Bowden, Leics., this being the family home of Harry Lucas, a journeyman bricklayer, born 1865 in Great Bowden, Leics., and his wife Julia Lucas (nee George, married in the 2nd quarter of 1898 in the Oxford district).
