He was the son of John Hill, a house painter, born 1851 in Market Harborough, Leics., and his wife Mary A., born 1855 in Market Harborough, Leics. Edward Peach, was a lithographic artist and was born in 1883 in Market Harborough, Leics., his siblings were, Arthur J., a carpenter, born 1882, Kenneth, born 1897, Alice M., a tailoress, born 1885, Ellen L., a factory labeller, born 1885 and Grace, born 1890, all his siblings were born in Market Harborough, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at 10, Coventry Road, Market Harborough, Leics. In April 1911 Edward was employed as a marine store manager, and was residing in the family home at 5, Harcourt Street, Market Harborough, Leics., together with his wife, Edith E. Hill (nee Hoggar) born 1881 in Leicester. On Wednesday February 14th 1917 The Leicester Mercury published the following article under the heading. “LOCAL CASUALTIES” – News has come to hand that Pte. E. P. Hill has been killed in action. He was well known in Market Harborough, and his death has been heard of with feelings of deep regret. He leaves a widow and one child.
