He was the son of John and Harriet Maycock. The 1911 census records for 48, Patrick Street, Market Harborough, Leics. John Maycock, head of the family, married 40 years and a Brewers Assistant, born 1844 in Little Bowden, Northants., and his wife Harriet, born 1850 in Hazelbeach, Northants., also Frederick Ernest, son, single and a Type Labourer, born 1880 in Little Bowden, Northants. and Alice, daughter, single and a Dressmaker, born 1892 in Little Bowden, Northants. The 7th April 1917 edition of the Leicester Mercury published the following under the heading, “LOCAL MEN IN THE CASUALTY LISTS.” DIED – Durham Light Infantry, Pte. Maycock F. 6059 (Market Harborough).
