The 1901 census records for 71, Nelson Street, Great Bowden, Leicestershire. Harry Tyers, head of the family and a House Painter, born 1870 in Uppingham, Rutland and his wife Harriet, born 1873 in Long Lawford, Warwickshire, also Percy, son, single, born 1896 in Uppingham, Rutland, additionally Frank Goodman, boarder, single and a House Painter, born 1882 in Leicester. The Birth Register for January, February and March 1896, show John Henry Percy Tyers, born in Uppingham, Rutland. The War Diary for today records. At 05.30 the advance continues, practically no opposition met, A right front company, C left front company, B right support, D left support. 8 prisoners belonging to 142nd R.I.R. captured by A Company just after Zero at about D.20.d. 20.20. Objectives gained. A defensive flank had to be formed leading along road from D.22.d. 50.50 to E.13.b. 80.10 on account of the fact that the 135th Brigade of the 46th Division on our right were unable to advance to any depth. Touch gained with 135th Brigade on right and 2nd Sherwood Foresters on left. Casualties, other ranks A Company 3 wounded. B Company 1 killed, 5 wounded, 1 missing. C Company 1 killed, 2 wounded.
