Henry Hill Whinny, head of the family and married for 36 years, a School Caretaker, born 1850 in Ipswich, Suffolk and his wife Rebecca, a School Caretaker, born 1856 in Barnwell, Northamptonshire, also Red, son, single and a Brewers Drayman, born 1889, Frank, son, single and a Gentlemans Footman and Servant, born 1893, Walter Gordon, son, single and a Solicitors Clerk, born 1895, Sidney Herbert, son, single and a Newspaper Boy, born 1897 and Bernard, grandson, single, and a Schoolboy, born 1903, all five children were born in Little Bowden, Northamptonshire. He was killed during an enemy air raid. The War Diary for today records. EQUANCOURT. Battalion resting, baths. 8.30pm. long range H.V. direct hit on “A” Company, 2 other ranks killed in action, 9 wounded in action.
