He was the son of Henry Bryan a threshing machine labourer, born 1870 in Fleckney, Leicestershire and his wife Sarah J. Bryan (nee Briggs), born 1873 in Ratby, Leicestershire. George Harry C., was born in the October quarter of 1898 in Fleckney, his siblings were William A., born 1891, Ellen, born 1892, Arnold, born 1896 and Sarah L., born 1897, all his siblings were born in Fleckney, also residing with the family was his paternal uncle, Charles Bryan a road labourer, born 1873 in Fleckney, in March 1901 the family home was at Factory Square, Fleckney. In April 1911 Harry (Henry) was a scholar and was residing in the family home at Factory Square, Fleckney, together with his father, now a hosiery trade worker, his mother and siblings, Arthur, Nellie (Ellen), and Arnold, also residing with the family was his paternal uncle, Charles Bryan.
