He was the son of Isaac Capell a farm labourer, born 1840 in Smeeton Westerby, Leics., and his wife Sarah A., born 1846 in Smeeton Westerby, Leics. Frederick was born in 1882 in Smeeton Westerby, Leics., his siblings were, Mary, born 1875 in Kibworth, Leics., Arthur, born 1877, James, born 1878, Annie, born 1880, Fanny, born 1886 and Maggie, born 1891, the latter five siblings were all born in Smeeton Westerby, Leics., in April 1891 the family home was at Smeeton Terrace, Main Street, Smeeton Westerby, Leics. In March 1901 Frederick was employed in as a hosiery factory machine helper and was residing in the family home at The Terrace, Smeeton Westerby, Leics., together with his father, now a bricklayer’s labourer, his mother and siblings, Annie, Fanny, Maggie and Thomas, born 1901 in Smeeton Westerby, Leics. In April 1911 Frederick was employed as a frame work knitter and was residing in the family home at Factory Square, Fleckney, Leics., together with his wife of five years, Alice, born 1882 in Fleckney, Leics., and their children, Frederick Arthur, born 1908 and Alice Elizabeth, born 1911, both their children were born in Fleckney, Leics. Frederick enlisted on the 6th September 1917 and embarked to join the British Expeditionary Force on the 31st December 1917, where he joined his unit, the Drake Battalion on the 14th January 1918 serving until the 21st March 1918 when he was invalided home suffering from trench fever. He again embarked to rejoin the British Expeditionary Force on the 9th July 1918, joining his unit, the Drake Battalion on the 25th August 1918 serving with that unit until being reported wounded and missing, later reported as killed in action or died of wounds on the 3rd September 1918.

Frederick's two daughters were Winnie Mary, born on January 10th 1913 and Lydia May, born on December 13th 1916.
