William Howlett was born in 1880 and was one of 11 children. He was born in Knighton and grew up in Oadby and Kibworth Beauchamp. He married Charlotte Lucy Nourish in June 1901. They moved to Fleckney and together they had two children, Florence Daisy Gertrude Howlett (b.1903) and William Thomas Howlett (b.1909). In 1911 he was living at Illston cottage, Fleckney, believed to be on Highfield street. He worked in the Hoisery industry. He was killed in action on March 21st 1918 France and Flanders.
