He was the eldest son of Thomas James Burrows a police constable, born 1865 in Northampton, and his wife Frances Ellen, born 1871 in Wootton, Northants. Jack was born in 1893 in Rushden, Northants., his siblings were, Francis, born 1895, Tom, born 1895 and Maud Ellen E., born 1896, the latter three siblings were all born in Earls Barton, Northants., George G., born 1900 in Stanwick, Northants., in March 1901 the family home was at The Avenue, Stanwick, Northants. In April 1911 Jack was employed as a domestic groom and was residing in the family home at High Street, Welford, Northants., together with his father, now a Sergeant of police, his mother and siblings, Francis, Tom, Maud and George Glithero, born 1900 in Stanwick, Northants.
