Before the outbreak of war he was an assistant to Mr Hawthorn, Stationer and Bookseller of Uppingham, at the commencement of hostilities he immediately enlisted and went out to France, he caught a severe cold whilst in the trenches being admitted to Norwich Hospital where three weeks after his admission he died from nephritis.
