He was the son of Mr John Harry Clowes a railway engine driver, born 1865 in Shearsby, Leics., and his wife Elizabeth, born 1870 in Leicester. Harry Cecil was born in 1897 in Wigston, Leics., his siblings were, Arthur, born 1892, Margaret Mary, born 1894, Evelyn, born 1896, Blanche, born 1899 and Charles, born 1900, all his siblings were born in Wigston, Leics., in March 1901 the family home was at Clarkes Road, Wigston Magna, Leics. In April 1911 Harry was employed as a hosiery trade mender and was residing in the family home at Clarkes Road, Wigston Magna, Leics., together with his parents and siblings, Arthur, Margaret, Evelyn, Blanche and Charles.
