Source: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland.
He was the son of Mr and Mrs A. Sivers of Ketton, Rutland. After enlistment and training he embarked for France on the 19th August 1916, and took part in the Battle of the Somme, being killed in action at Flers. On the day of his death the Leicestershire Regiment had rushed a trench and bayoneted fifty Germans in a hand to hand conflict, and carried a very difficult position. Aubrey was digging a trench with others of his platoon in a very dangerous position, when an enemy shell fell, killing him and four of his comrades instantly and wounding many others, he was buried near the spot where he fell. Sadly he had only been married six months. The War Diary for the 17th September records. LIENCOURT. The Battalion marched to bivouac on the north west corner of BERNAFAY WOOD. The whole of 110th Brigade bivouacked here.
