Alfred Percy Brewis born 23-4-1895, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Eldest son of Alfred John Malcom Brewis and Sophia Louise Coning, last known address 20, Granville Road, Jesmond, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Joined the 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers then transferred to the 5th Battalion East Lancashire Regiment with whom he served as of May 1915 in Gallipoli, Egypt, Sinai and France. Killed in action June 1st 1917 at Havrincourt Wood, interred Neuville-Bourjonval British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France, grave F 1. He was 22 years of age and single. Mentioned in Despatches, December 18th 1917, " for gallant and distinguished service." Awards; 1914-1915 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal & Emblem.
