ContributeSource: Michael Doyle Their Name Liveth For Evermore: The Great War Roll of Honour for Leicestershire and Rutland. He was the son of Herbert William and Annie Grant. He was a butcher by trade and after enlistment, he embarked for France in November 1916. He took part in the Vimy Ridge and Cambrai engagements during 1917, and in the Somme offensive of early 1918. he suffered shell shock and died at Noyon, and was buried at Diges-le-Pont near Noyon, France, but his grave was subsequently lost.
