Son of William Parker Cobley and Florence Cobley, of Leicester.

1198596 Sergeant FRANK COBLEY Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Wireless Op./Air Gunner. Died age 26 in Lancaster BIII JB347 MG.V of No.7 Sqn 18th October 1943. on a sortie to bomb Hanover. His duties were as Wireless Operator. 3. Of the crew of seven, four were Australians. W/O Marshall (Pilot), Sgt Cobley and Sgt Lyle (Flight Engineer) were the RAF members of the crew. He had served previously with No.460 (R.A.A.F.) Sqn in the same position.W/O Marshall also died. Sgt Lyle became a prisoner of War. The Lancaster took off from RAF Oakington, Cambridgeshire at 1749 hrs. Crashed at 1735 hrs approximately 1 Km North of Rehburg (Loccum), Germany. A village West of Steinhuder Meer. The four crew members who died were buried in Hanover war Cemetery.
