Horace Littlewood was one of eight children born to Charles and Elizabeth Littlewood, of Kirby Bellars, near Melton Mowbray.

Horace had served with the 2nd Battalion of the Leicestershire Regiment during the Great War. During this time he was injured and taken as a Prisoner of War by the Germans. Although he survived the war, he never fully recovered from his injuries and died as a result of these in 1927, aged only 29.

A notice in the Melton Times of August 12th, 1927 reads:

'Demise: After a long and painful illness, the death took place at Kirby Bellars on Wednesday morning of Mr. Horace Littlewood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Littlewood. The deceased who was only 29 years of age, served with the 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment during the war. He was badly wounded and taken prisoner by the Germans.'

He is not remembered on any local war memorial
