Leslie was born on the 14th August 1891 and was the son of Mr and Mrs HW Cooper. His records indicate that he entered service on the 15th May 1904 , attaining rank of Lieutenant on the 15th March 1914. He is recorded to have contracted Pneumonia in December 1916, but was declared fit for service again by May 1917. He was awarded the DSC for services in destruction of German S/M UB 124 on the 20th July 1918. He was married to Nora Eunace Lonsdale Cooper on the 15th August 1918.
He retired from service on the 15th March 1922 and died on the 12th January 1924, aged 32. His cause of death is unknown.
