Thomas was the son of Thomas and Ethel Brewin, of Leicester; nephew of Horace and Mary Francks, of Leicester.

He was a Wireless Operator on a Vickers Wellington of No 105 O.T.U (Operational Training Unit) which crashed into high ground near Bryansford, County Down whilst flying in cloud.
